READ: chapters 3-6 of the Bhagavad Gita
WRITE A SHORT RESPONSE PAPER: Choose ONE of the following questions and write a 2-page response paper. Use at least 2/3 of your paper to answer the question, drawing on your understanding of the text itself. End your paper with a short paragraph that relates the question to your own life experience.
1) In chapter 6, Krishna describes the “man of discipline.” Drawing on the teachings of these four chapters of the text, describe in your own words what Krishna means by this phrase.
2) Krishna says “Fixed in yoga, perform actions while having abandoned attachment, O Arjuna” (BG 2:48). What does Krishna mean by this, and why does he stress it so much?
3) Verse 38 of chapter 2 says, “Impartial to joy and suffering, gain and loss, victory and defeat, arm yourself for the battle, lest you fall into evil.” How does this verse relate to Krishna’s teachings on equanimity and duty?
